An Amazing Night

Congratulations to Go Ogres, winners of the Finger Lakes Girl Bands Battle of the Bands! They are a dynamic and enigmatic trio from Trumansburg, NY and we can’t wait to hear the record they will record. We had a capacity crowd at The Haunt, possibly the biggest local music show The Haunt has ever seen. Misses Bitches won the audience favorite prize with twice the votes of their nearest competitors.

You can find photos of the event at our Facebook page.

Thanks to all who helped make this amazing night a huge success, especially our lead sponsor McNeil Music of Ithaca for conceiving and planning the event.

We Have a Battle!

As of our deadline on December 1st, we had 12 bands register and meet qualifications! In our minds, that’s just about the perfect number for a really solid battle. The battle will be held at The Haunt here in Ithaca, on Saturday, January 19th, at 7:00 p.m. Each band gets 15 minutes of fame, as it were, to play whatever they feel best represents them as a band.
The submitting bands are greatly diverse. We have sounds from folksy country to dark synth. We have musicians who are still teenagers, all the way up to ladies who are old enough to not want to give their ages. The same goes for experience; for some of these folks, this will be old hat, but for others, it will be their first times on stage.
So get excited! Come out and cheer on some people who are laying it on the line! This is about the music, but it’s also about building a supportive, welcoming community. We are all very stoked.

Registration is Now Closed

Thanks to all the Girl Bands who registered for our Battle of the Bands! Registration is now closed and we are no longer accepting submissions.

Join us on Saturday, January 19 at The Haunt to hear all the bands play their original music in hopes of winning the amazing prize package furnished by Pyramid Sound Studios and Angry Mom Records.

Welcome to the Finger Lakes Girl Bands Battle of the Bands!

Female musicians: we know you’re out there.

This event is for you.

Our purpose is threefold. We want to provide motivation for you to perform. We want to extend our support and gratitude for your art. And we want to catalyze a network for musicians, in the sincerely selfish hopes that we get to watch your band perform at this show and for years to come. All ages, styles, and personalities welcomed. The only thing we ask is that you’re serious about nurturing this music scene.
